I’d like to share some numbers with you. The following statistics are from the high school, and our current high school enrollment is 189 students: On October 4th of last year (2023), we had 29 students failing 64 classes. 17 of those 29 students were failing multiple classes. On October 4th of this year (2024), we had 14 students failing 19 classes. 3 of those 14 students are failing multiple classes. When comparing the numbers from this year to last year, the number of students failing one or more classes is down 51% (14 vs 29). There are 70% fewer classes being failed (19 vs 64), and the number of students failing multiple classes is down by 82% (3 vs 17). I am just so proud of our students, our parents, our staff, and our building administration for every ounce of their hard work, determination, and resilience that have been on full display since day one. This type of transformative change does not occur without the cooperation and collaboration of everyone involved. Our work is far from over, and we intend to keep our foot on the gas pedal, but there is nothing wrong with taking a moment to appreciate and recognize the hard work that is taking place in our high school classrooms and at home. Have a great day, everyone!

Mrs. Scott's Anatomy/Physiology and Biology students performed a "crime scene" lab activity in which they tested a "victims" stomach contents to determine which macronutrients were present in their sample, therefore discovering where the victim ate their last meal and who committed the crime. They really enjoyed the real life application of this lab!

Many thanks to Mr. Dave Neely for being a guest speaker on Thursday. He encouraged seniors that could be eligible to vote this year to register and do so. He also explained the voting process and let students see what the ballot would look like.

Sadly, there have been many incidents in the news lately revolving around threats of violence to schools. We are seeing this trend at both the state and national levels. Thankfully, however, most of these incidents have proven to be unsubstantiated. Please click the following link to read the superintendent's letter to the school community explaining how Nowata Public Schools handles threats of violence. https://5il.co/2x72t

Good morning, Folks, I had the date wrong, so I missed the opportunity to tell you about a great event that occurred last night. The Nowata Library held an open-house. Even though that event has come and gone, I would encourage you stop by check out all of the great resources that our library has to offer. It is a warm and welcoming environment, and I can assure you that they have something there for everyone to enjoy. When you get a chance, take a minute to check out their Facebook page to see all the programs and events that are offered. The upcoming Meet the Author event on Sunday, September 29th from 2:00-4:00pm is just an example of the quality events that take place in our library.
