An annoucenment from Mr. Prince regarding robotics:
Hello Ironmen family, I wanted to give you all an update on how the Robotics Teams did this past weekend at their state tournaments. There are 6 teams total at Nowata, 4 in the middle school and 2 in the high school. This year I'm super proud of all 6 teams as each of them qualified for the state tournament! This is a huge accomplishment, and the first time it's ever happened in Nowata. Unfortunately, one of the high school teams had to cut their season short due to COVID-19, so only 5 teams ended up actually going to the state tournaments. In the middle school we have:
Team 44044B - The Terra-Ma-Dactyls - Consisting of Savannah Hultz and Kennedy Newsom - made it to the quarterfinals before being eliminated! - Great Job Ladies!
Team 44044C - The Ciller Cobras - Consisting of Shelby Webster and Haelee Hesslen - were also quarterfinalists, BUT they also qualified for the VEX World Championship based on their skills score! (This is my first time going to Worlds!) - Amazing Work Girls!
Team 44044D - Wall-E - A solo team because the rest of his teammates didn't show up, Wally Rush - He made it into the quarterfinals as well - Awesome Job Wally!
Team 44044G - The Banana Sloths - Consisting of Maria Gomez, Kollin Ivie, Davionn Downing, and Ryker Garner - battled hard throughout the day, but were eliminated in the qualifying rounds. - Nice Work Guys!
For the high school we had Team 44044X - The Quiet One - Normally a solo team of just Michael Prince, but today was helped out by Chelo Prince and Amelia Prince - they got robbed in their quarter finals match with a heartbreaking score of 19-18, but the refs counted a ball as scored that shouldn't have counted. Which means they should have tied and replayed the match. (But I'm not upset or anything 😀). They didn't walk away empty handed though, they won The Judges Award. Great Job Prince Kids, I'm so PROUD of you!
The Judges Award is presented to a team that is most deserving of special recognition. 1. The Team displays special attributes, exemplary effort and perseverance at the event, 2. Team overcomes an obstacle or challenge and achieves a goal or special accomplishment at the event or at some time throughout the season or 3. Team distinguishes itself in some way that does not fit under other award criteria but nonetheless deserves special recognition.
Needless to say I'm so very proud of this year's robotics teams. They've had many struggles to face with COVID and being quarantined, but we've faced them head on and prevailed having an exceptional season full of fun and excitement. Hopefully next year is a little more normal than this year was.
Thank you everyone for your support,
Jason Prince

Nowata After Prom’s annual event will be held at the Hillside church this year. The expectations are that any NHS student that enters will be staying the duration of the event which is midnight to 4:00 am. In the event that a student wishes to leave, a parent must be contacted and made aware that their child is leaving our care. It is expected that the standard of conduct will follow school procedures. No outside food or drink is allowed, we will have plenty of that on hand! We have awesome prizes and activities planned and hope to have a fun time after prom!
